New award categories added to Best New Products Awards
Angling footwear and clothing manufacturers have increased chances of glory at EFTTEX in Paris following a decision by EFTTA to split the Apparel category in the show’s Best New Product Awards. There will now be two separate awards at the show: Best New Footwear and Best New Fishing Clothing.
The news follows an announcement earlier in the year to create another new category – Best New Terminal Tackle. Terminal tackle has been removed from the Best New Accessory category to recognise the importance of the product sector and give specialist companies a greater chance of showcasing their products and winning an award. It will include all terminal tackle from floats to hooks.
The EFTTEX Best New Product Awards are designed to highlight developments in the fishing tackle industry over the last 12 months and therefore each entry must be innovative and brand new to the tackle market.
Entrants are asked to ensure that their products have not been previously sold in shops prior to EFTTEX 2012 and are being launched for the first time at the show. They must be new products for 2013.
The definition of a new product is ‘a new product that has not been introduced to the European market’.
Companies are allowed to enter a maximum of six products this year – and only one per award category.
Those businesses entering the Best New Monofilament Line category must have signed up to EFTTA’s Line Charter (www.efttalinecharter.com).

All products will automatically be entered into two other categories: Innovation of the Year Visitors’ Choice Award
In another change to the EFTTEX Best New Product Awards this year, judging will no longer be conducted by a select panel of journalists. Instead all press registered visitors will be eligible to vote for their favourite products on the first day of the show. Products will be assessed on their innovation, usability, design, quality and practicality.
All products must be handed in at the Best New Product Stand (F57) by 5pm on Thursday, May 31st, 2012.
Details of each entry will be listed in the Special EFTTEX Best New Product Awards section of www.angling-international.com and the winners will be showcased in special features in Angling International in the autumn.
