A milestone towards sustainable management of recreational fishery

Defra - the Department for Environment Food & Rual Affairs - launched a consultation on the design of permitting regimes for the recreational targeting of bluefin tuna in each UK Administration and on the operational design for a recreational fishery for bluefin tuna in England.

This is a significant milestone towards the long-term sustainable management of recreational angling in UK waters. The consultation is part of a wider set of announcements launched by the Government today to take a key step in delivering a thriving, sustainable fishing industry and healthy marine environment for generations to come.
