EFTTA is introducing its new Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) service to members, which includes free-of-charge legal advice from expert lawyers.
This service is available to full EFTTA members engaged in the manufacturing, wholesaling and distribution of fishing tackle and who have been members of the association for at least three years and are up-to-date with membership fees.
The service was brought to the attention of all EFTTA members at EFTTEX in Paris in June and has been met with a great response from members. The service will be promoted on a regular basis through the EFTTA website, press releases, Newslines and its media partner, Angling International.
EFTTA is in the process of compiling an information booklet on what to do in the case of infringement issues that will be ready later in the summer. In the meantime, members are urged to continue with best practice when it comes to protecting products.
Once a company has the valid registration paperwork and its renewal fees are paid on time, it then has the right to prevent others from using the same trademark, patent or design in relation to the products covered under the registration. A similar product is not considered a copy unless the original model is registered or patented.
If you are interested in finding out more about the service or wish to apply contact EFTTA General Manager Janet Doyle about completing a qualifying questionnaire.
