EFTTA’s increasing influence as a defender of the rights of recreational fishing has received a boost by the decision of the Board to hire a lobbying assistant to its man in Brussels, Jan Kappel.

At its last November meeting in Amsterdam, the Board gave the go ahead for the appointment which will expand EFTTA’s lobbying and promote its efforts and results.

Kappel said: “Having someone else on board will increase awareness of EFTTA to members and non-members and send out the message that the association is so much more than just the organiser of EFTTEX.

“We will be able to reinforce more loudly that EFTTA is here to protect the industry as a whole and its members individually. More lobby staff means more help and protection to EFTTA members.” The new lobbying assistant will start working in January 2017.
