Succesful EFTTEX re-launch
Budapest - 15-17 June 2023

After a 3-years break, EFTTEX has been re-launched in Budapest from 15 to 17 June 2023. EFTTA congratulates the new style and concept of EFTTEX 2023, also expressing a big thank you to the three leading organizers who have done a tremendous job to realize a successful come back: Istvan Pal, Ciro Esposito, Rudi Heger. All three are member of the EFTTA board.

EFTTEX - the European Fishing Tackle Trade Exhibition - was initiated by EFTTA for the first time in 1982. This has developed over the years into the premier European trade show for the industry. These shows have financed the lobbying work of EFTTA for almost 40 years.

Because recreational angling is Europe-wide under threats, with potential restrictions coming from various sides, the EFTTA board decided last year that EFTTA as non-profit association will no longer be involved in the EFTTEX organization. As a result, the 3 aforementioned EFTTA board members have made it their mission to manage the EFTTEX 2023 organization by themselves. For this purpose, EFTTEX Trading ltd has been founded. Even if the show was smaller than in previous years, the atmosphere was one of positive expectation and fraternal exchanges. The Best New Product Award with independent jury was a successful highlight of the show. Not to mention the gala dinner with a delicious Hungarian goulash and traditional Hungarian music, which were just awesome!

Since EFTTEX 2019, the EFTTEX organization has been outsourced. The task of EFTTA is to fully concentrate on lobbying the European Institutions. Promotion and advocacy are an absolute necessity to preserve recreational angling for the future. If the industry fails to react to the current threats, recreational angling as we know it, might completely vanish. Since EFTTEX will no longer be the main source of funding of EFTTA lobbying, we need the membership support of the whole Recreational Angling Industry to finance our work. Gerard Bakkenes of Shimano Europe and EFTTA Board Member, clearly emphasized this urgent message in his speech during the EFTTEX Gala Dinner.

As to EFTTEX 2023, the energy amongst the participants and visitors clearly showed that the trade in Europe needs a platform to meet up, exchange news, present and explore new products. This impression, as well as the result of the survey held among the 2023 participants, will be of great importance when the EFTTA board decides on the future of EFTTEX, whose trademark is owned by EFTTA.
