EFTTA is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mike Duckworth, founding President of the European Fishing Tackle Trade Association and a highly respected figure in the European and international fishing tackle trade.
Mike played a pivotal role in the creation of EFTTA in the early 1980s. At a time when the European angling trade was seeking new opportunities beyond existing exhibitions, he was instrumental in bringing together leading industry representatives from across Europe to establish a dedicated trade association and a trade-led exhibition. As EFTTA’s first President, Mike was central to turning this vision into reality.
In 1982, under his leadership, the first EFTTEX took place — laying the foundations for what has since become the Europe's leading fishing tackle trade exhibition. Mike remained closely involved with EFTTA and EFTTEX over the years, both in his presidential role and as an exhibitor through his company Kamasan, a highly regarded supplier of fishing hooks.
Mike was widely admired for his calm, optimistic approach and his remarkable ability to bring together people from different countries and backgrounds in a spirit of cooperation. His contribution to the development of the European fishing tackle trade has been lasting and significant.
Thank you Mike.
EFTTA extends its sincere condolences to Mike’s family, friends, and colleagues. He will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.
