February 2024

Dear Angler & EFTTA friend,

The current legislative period at the EU is touching its end – the next European elections await us in June 2024! After these elections a lot of new faces will appear in the institutions of the EU – and EFTTA has the task to convince these “new faces” that it is well worthwhile to save recreational angling for future generations!

Our antagonists are not sleeping – they will continue to make big efforts to see recreational angling disappear! And they will try to convince these “new faces” as much as we do – but this is the usual game when doing any kind of lobby-work and EFTTA is ready to face these challenges!

So, the times remain challenging as lots of the the political & ecological threats in regard of the future of recreational angling remain, while new ones will appear on the horizon!

We’ll keep you updated …

That is what EFTTA does for you.

As a recognized international non-profit association EFTTA has better access to the European decision-makers than individual persons or companies.

EFTTA is able to act on behalf of the entire Recreational Angling Industry.

With registered HQ in Brussels within walking distance of the European Institutions, we are in constant contact with the EU Commission, the EU Council & the EU Parliament, monitoring legislative activities within the EU Commission, meeting with MEPs, assuring that all relevant information about our industry and the angling community is brought to the decision makers. This task is very time- and resource demanding.

Lobbying & promotion are crucial to preserve recreational angling for the future.

All top players in the tackle trade industry have understood the importance of EFTTA's lobby work. All of them are member of EFTTA:

DAIWA, PURE FISHING, RAPALA VMC, RATHER OUTDOORS, SHIMANO.

But that is not enough.

The annual membership fees are the main source of income for EFTTA. To finance our lobby work we need the support of the entire Recreational Angling Industry. No matter how big or small your company is.

The industry must stand together. Only then can we be strong enough to successfully defend the interests of the tackle trade.

Supporting EFTTA is more important than ever.

That's why the EFTTA Board appeals urgently to all companies that are involved in or related to the recreational angling industry to stop profiting as a 'free-rider' from our commitment to promote and safeguard the future of recreational angling.

Show solidarity and protect your business.
