Mark Owen: elected as new EAA President

Fred Bloot, President of the European Angling Alliance (EAA) stepped down from his post at the 30th EAA's Annual General Assembly in Tampere, Finland. He is making way for new leadership.

During his 12 years as EAA President Fred Bloot has done a fantastic job by modernizing the organisation into a highly valued civil society organisation that promotes and protects recreational fisheries not only at national but also at European level.

Outgoing president Fred Bloot did not stand for re-election and expressed gratitude to the organisation for the past 12 years of dedicated service and many memorable moments.

After stepping down, President Fred Bloot handed over the helm to the newly elected EAA President Mark Owen, representative of the EAA member Angling Trust (UK).

Gerard Bakkenes / EFTTA:

"At EFTTA, we deeply value our collaboration with the EAA. Even though we represent different groups – EAA the individual anglers and EFTTA the recreational fishing industry – our common goal is to secure angling for future generations!"

"THANK YOU FRED!  On behalf of the entire EFTTA board, I would like to thank you for the very pleasant and constructive cooperation, which has enabled us to establish a joint structure to coordinate and carry out our advocacy & lobbying work together. EFTTA wishes you many exciting years to come with great catches in clean waters..!"
