Strengthened relationship with French Fishing Tackle Industry Association

EFTTA is delighted to share the news that an agreement has been reached with GIFAP, the French Fishing Tackle Industry Association. Our goal is to join forces and present a unified voice to secure the future of recreational angling in Europe.

GIFAP
The GIFAP (French Fishing Tackle Industry Association) was created 1952 as trade association dedicated to defend the interests (economic, technical and regulatory) of manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers of fishing tackle on the French market.

As the sole representative of the French fishing tackle industry, GIFAP has signed numerous agreements and contributed to the evolution of the legislative framework for the recreational angling industry in France. The association is also behind a number of concrete, large-scale initiatives to promote fishing in France. In this way, GIFAP has become a representative institutional body in France and with the European institutions in Brussels.

Gerard Bakkenes / EFTTA: "A big thank you to Benoît Mayolle and Stéphane Sence for their great support in making this collaboration possible. The French Fishing Tackle Industry is a specific market with its own rules and structures. To achieve a common strategy at EU level, it is essential to have a close partnership. By joining forces, both EFTTA & GIFAP will have a more significant and effective impact."

This applies not only to France, but to the whole of the European market: lobbying and advocacy is much more effective if it is collected and coordinated at a pan-European level and communicated through existing channels. To this extend, EFTTA is taking steps to work more closely with local trade associations to establish a unified platform that links EU advocacy & lobbying projects, local actions and impacts in each country.

A similar cooperation exists already between EFTTA & ATA (the Angling Trade Association): The voice of the British Tackle Industry. To protect, represent & promote the angling trade.

And there is more to come. EFTTA looks forward to working closely with the local trade associations in Europe!
