Last month’s, 1st ever, successful Angling Summit made one thing abundantly clear: the future of recreational angling can only be safeguarded by uniting and advocating as a single, powerful voice within the European Union (EU).
EFTTA will therefore continue its 'Industry Alert' initiative with a series of 1-hour video conference calls starting in mid-January 2025. These calls aim to inform potential industry partners about the threats that could jeopardize the future of recreational angling in Europe and adversely affect related businesses and the industry as a whole. The first series of calls was conducted in the first half of 2024.
Protecting our shared passion requires more than just enthusiasm—it demands clean waters, healthy habitats, and a commitment to environmental responsibility. Equally important is the availability of reliable scientific and socio-economic data to drive meaningful impact at the European level and beyond.
Achieving these goals is only possible through collective effort. Anglers, the angling industry, and related sectors like boating must come together to strengthen these pillars and generate the necessary data. Only by uniting can we ensure that our voices are heard, and the future of recreational angling is secured.
We accordingly appeal to the fairness and solidarity of all companies in the tackle trade sector, urging them not to profit merely as 'free riders' of EFTTA’s efforts to protect and promote the recreational angling industry. The active participation of all stakeholders—big or small—will amplify our advocacy, ensuring our voice resonates far and wide. Now more than ever, we call on the industry's support to empower our shared efforts!
Starting now, the EFTTA Board will send out invitations to join these video conference calls, which will address these critical issues and foster collaboration to safeguard our industry. We sincerely hope for understanding and positive feedback in our shared efforts to keep our favorite pastime and businesses active, fresh, competitive and ALIVE.
