A broad coalition of organisations representing the Dutch fisheries sector has spoken out against a proposed legal ban on the use of barbed hooks in the Netherlands.
The proposed amendment would affect both commercial and recreational fishing and could have significant practical and economic consequences for fishers, businesses and the wider fishing tackle sector.
EFTTA supports the concerns raised by the Dutch sector and shares the call for policymakers to take the practical implications for fishing fully into account.
