To prepare for the EU elections, a leaflet was created by the European Anglers Alliance (EAA) and EFTTA to present and promote the Recreational Angling Sector to newly elected MEPs and other influential policymakers.
The leaflet gives a short overview of the key facts and figures of the sector, clearly emphasising the high impact it has in terms of number of anglers, supporting jobs, and societal benefits. With more than 25 million anglers, this is a high-value activity that supports - among others - 350,000 full-time jobs in Europe, the development of tourism, and environmental work.
The leaflet also presents the 'European Parliament Forum on Recreational Fisheries and Aquatic Environment'. In short: RecFish Forum. This discussion platform aims to improve the contact between the various policymakers and stakeholders, while providing high-level expertise and scientific knowledge on issues that are related to recreational angling and its sector. To this extent, the RecFish Forum organises events in the European Parliament that are supported by EFTTA and the EAA.
