10 year development program  to promote fishing tourism in Finland

A designated working group presented the Finish ministry of Agriculture and Forestery an ambitious program to promote fishing tourism: the vision is that Finland will have the most versatile and highest-quality fishing services in Europe in 2033.

The development program includes proposals for measures to develop services and business, sales and marketing, and the operating environment. Finland's water bodies and fish stocks have good potential for the development of fishing tourism. Currently, Finland has over 511 fishing tourism companies employing around 1000 people.

The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Antti Kurvinen:
" I am satisfied that a common vision has been reached for the development of fishing tourism for the next ten years. I challenge operators to implement the program so that both Finnish and foreign fishing tourists will receive even better services in the future and business activities will also grow".
