Otters

The increasing numbers of otters invade all waters in Europe, severely harming fish-stocks

The increasing numbers of otters are invading all waters of Europe. By doing that, they severely harm fish-stocks that are already heavily stressed (Hydropower, Cormorants, massive disappearing of insects and much more).

EFTTA is very conscious, that measures need to be taken in regard of this topic: Otters are in our scope! But as they are so cute, this lobbying is very difficult.

Fencing waters against otters is less controversial with the public than culling, but fences are not pretty. And the otters quickly learn how to pass over or under these fences.

One positive element: Austria & Bavaria have already allowed the reduction of the otter populations by trapping & hunting.
