EAA president Fred Bloot, board member Florian Stein and secretary general Jan Kappel met with the Commission to talk about the implementation of the revised fisheries Control Regulation, which took effect in January.
The center of discussion was the Article 55 "Recreational Fisheries".
Both parties agreed that we are at the beginning of a process, which won't be perfect from the outset. Learning by doing will be part of the process.
The EU coastal Member States have to tell the EU Commission by 10th May at the latest if they want to make use for free of an EU developed fishing app or a national app to collect catch data.
We know that some Member States will make use of the EU app while others will make use of their own developed app.
