Following earlier communication, the European Commission has launched a public consultation to evaluate the Single-Use Plastics Directive, including measures affecting fishing gear containing plastic. The evaluation will assess how the rules are working in practice and help inform any future updates.
This is a valuable opportunity for the fishing tackle trade to share real-world experience on impacts, challenges and effectiveness. The consultation is open for feedback until 17 March 2026 (midnight Brussels time).
