EU attempts to reduce fish stock protection under MAPs

EC and Council suggest changing to a so-called 5% rule asap.
 

Early December 2023, the European Commission proposed to modify the EU Multiannual fisheries management Plans (MAP), removing key safeguards for the sustainable management EU fish stocks. The European Parliament has recently rejected a request for an emergency procedure on this important matter.

A strange case. Why? And why the rush?
