The European Anglers Alliance celebrated its 25th anniversary in Bled, Slovenia. The event ran during three days, from 4-7 September 2019. It was a special occasion for the entire profession. European anglers gathered to celebrate, took part in the General Assembly and joined Fred Bloot, the current EAA President in making Jean-Claude Bel (CEO of EFTTA) a very special guest.

Jean-Claude Bel will retire in October after more than a decade in the association's hot seat. He has been the face and voice of EFTTA for the last 11 years.

Fred Bloot retraced Jean-Claude’s path in the industry and saluted his input in the trade. While Jean-Claude is described as a “real” French man, full of passion, emotional, the audience in the room agreed his contribution was always based on good knowledge and brilliantly significant during key meetings with stakeholders.

You did your homework well. We have been together in the European Parliament and we have visited the European Commission. You were always convincing. You know better than anyone the economic side of sport fishing” said Fred Bloot, paying a vibrant homage to Jean-Claude and cheering him at the same time.

The atmosphere was relaxed, emotions became palpable as Fred Bloot was about to announce the special gift the European Anglers Alliance had in store.

Fred said “The Board of EAA couldn’t let Jean-Claude go without paying tribute to his commitment to the European sport fishing”.

Jean-Claude is now an Honorary Member of European Anglers Alliance. He will be missed, cited as a trailblazer to the next generation. “Merci pour tout Jean-Claude!”.
