The results of an EU-funded report on the recreational fishing industry and its impact on fish will be revealed next month.

Representatives of EFTTA will be on hand to hear the presentation on 'Recreational and Semi-subsistance Fishing - its value and impact on fish'. The report, which was sponsored to the tune of €20,000 by Brussels, was carried out by Cefas (UK), the Thünen Institute and AZTI (Spain), led by Keiran Hyder.

Hyder, of Cefas, also co-chairs the ICES Working group on Recreational Fisheries Surveys. ICES is the lead scientific advisor to the European Commission on fisheries management, status of fish stocks.
